A Kolam is a geometrical line motif made of rice powder. It is to be found at the entrance to homes and businesses by way of welcome and good luck.
Ephemeral in nature, they are traced freehand allowing the powder to flow. The kolams are drawn each morning at the entrance of homes in the south of India to bring prosperity.
